Our client of the month for April is Sarah Lewis! Read here about her fitness journey!
1. When did you start training with CHT?
2. How has CHT helped you achieve your goals?
I started training with Cody to get more serious about strength training – something that’s been on my ‘to-do list for awhile, but not knowing where to start on my own. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first started, but I was amazed at how knowledgeable Cody was about everything related to training and human physiology – there was no comparison between what he brought and continues to bring to the table as a trainer compared to any other interactions I’ve ever had with a fitness professional in the past! I have gained so much knowledge on strength training, as well as so many exercises and tools I can use on my own as well, that I am much more confident in doing strength routines on my own at the gym.
3. What is your favorite exercise?
Dare I say Kettlebell? I think because I’ve learned to correctly do both the traditional swing as well as some variations, I like that I have the confidence to perform it on my own since it’s such a popular fitness tool these days. I like that I feel the impact of this exercise even as I’m doing it and – as long as Cody doesn’t make me do too many!!
4. What is your least favorite exercise?
Anything involving split squats – I don’t understand why these are so hard and no variation seems pleasant!
5. How has training improved your life?
What has been most important to me as I’ve been finishing my PhD program in the Public Health school at UNC has been the increased energy and stress relief CHT has provided. While I was already familiar with the benefits of cardio prior to training at CHT in terms of increased energy, I’ve found that adding strength training has increased my energy to even higher levels, which was been essential for me during this stressful time. And it’s actually fun to take a ‘break’ from work and not feel guilty about it, knowing that the time I’m putting in with Cody is helping propel me to work better the rest of the week.
6. What’s your favorite post workout food?
It takes me a little while to want to eat after a tough workout, but usually I find myself first wanting either some sort of plain Greek yogurt or part of a Health Warrior Chia Bar.
7. What/who is your biggest inspiration? (fitness related or not)
8. What would you write on the chalk board sign?
‘Today, I GET TO work out’
