January Client of the Month: Melissa Raines

Melissa is originally from South Carolina! She relocated to Chapel Hill almost two years ago for a job opportunity, and it instantly became home!  Melissa lives right downtown with her fiancé, and their five month old puppy Ellie!  She is a huge foodie, so she decided she definitely needed to start working out to balance her love for food.   
 

 

1. When did you start training with CHT?

I had my first session with Caitlin in November 2016.  She made me feel comfortable from the get-go, and I knew I wanted her to be my trainer!  I signed up to see her three times a week for the next year.  I have never had a true workout routine, so I knew I needed someone else to motivate me.

2.  How has CHT helped you achieve your goals?

Caitlin completely personalizes everything to what I need.  CHT is the first workout place I don't dread going too.  She usually incorporates tabatas into my workouts, and I LOVE those.

3. What is your favorite exercise?

I actually enjoy squats (weird I know).

4. What is your least favorite exercise?

Gosh, I hate a lot!  But my least favorites are push ups, backwards lunges and running!

5. How has training improved your life?

It just added the balance I needed into my life.  I feel better after I workout.  I still go out and eat the things I love, so working out makes me feel a little less guilty.

6. What is your favorite post workout food?

If I complete all my workouts for the week, I always let myself go to YoPo on Franklin Street on Sunday!  Frozen Yogurt is my vice.

7. What or who is your biggest inspiration?

Anyone who has a full time job and manages to stay fit and active.  I've done a terrible job at managing the two!  I've struggled with it since undergrad.

But I guess on a more serious note, my wedding next May is my true inspiration!  

8. What would you write on the chalk board sign?  

Like a quote?  I guess my favorite quote is...
"There's power in looking silly and not caring that you do." -Amy Poehler

9. What is your favorite workout song?

That's tough! I like to switch it up and usually just listen to Pandora, but anything upbeat and fast pace to keep me moving.
